FAQ

PRODUCT

  • HOW MANY TREATS SHOULD I FEED?

We all love to give our pets treats. However, treats should be given in moderation and should represent 10% or less of your pet’s daily food intake. The rest should come from a nutritionally complete feeding program. When using treats frequently, such as during training exercises, try to use small pieces.

  • Can NutriBites™ freeze-dried salmon pet treats be consumed by humans?

In the process of producing Salmon freeze-dry dog treats, We mix the fresh ground salmon with natural antioxidants, then freeze-dried to move water and use our patented kill-step called Steam sterilization Pasteurization to eliminate pathogens.  Our products will only ship out to Costco only after we receive third-party microbiological lab results.  It should be food-safe for human consumption, but we would not recommend it.

  • My dog loves your Freeze-dried Beef Liver treats, can I feed him as fullmeals ?

Our beef liver is rich in Vitamin D and mineral. It is 10 calories a piece. We have a pretty big piece. Our treats are nutrition densed. It only has 6% moisture maximum. If you put the piece into water and wait for a while, the product would be rehydrated to a piece of fresh beef liver.  One piece of our treat is worth of 3 or 4 pieces of fresh beef liver with the same size.

  • Do you put Desiccant packets in your products?

We don’t have any type of Desiccant packets in our products.

  • I'm not happy with the recipe I purchased - can it be returned?

We want every pet parent—and every pet—to be happy! Every Nutribites recipe comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you are unhappy with the food you purchased for any reason, simply return or exchange it with the original store receipt.

  • I found some very very thin and the wax/parchemnt paper-like was stuck to the back of the beef liver treats, what are they?

During the process of Freeze-drying which is necessary for keeping nutrients and flavor of the beef liver, water will take out from it and so the shiny membrane of beef liver changes to a paper-like piece. We receive beef liver in the waxed boxes and there is not any sort of plastic or paper wrapping.

  • For Salmon Treats, under the calorie content, it says that 1 treat has 3 kcal. What does it mean?

Kcal or kilocalorie, also known as Calorie (with capital C), is a unit for energy.

One gram of crude protein or one gram of crude carbohydrate contains about 3.5 kcal or 3.5 kilocalories, one gram of fat contains about 8.5 kcal or 8.5 kilocalories.

The amount of enegergy animals need per day is related to their weight, life stage, activity level and other factors.

  • Are your products also considered gluten free or just grain free? Specifically the salmon version.

Our products are both grain-free and gluten-free.

We can generally assume grain-free products to be gluten-free; however, a product that is gluten free does not necessarily mean it is  grain free.

"Gluten", refers to a protein found in grains, which gives them the chewy texture, mainly found in wheat, barley and rye.

"Grains" refers to cereal grains, which also includes grains that are gluten-free, such as rice, oats, quinoa, etc.

  • Are your salmon treats from wild caught salmon or farmed?

Our Salmon treats are made of responsibly-sourced, wild caught salmon.

  • Are your freeze-dried recipes shelf-stable? What is the shelf life?

Yes! Our Freeze-Dried Raw Meals and freeze-dried toppers are shelf-stable because we’ve removed the moisture.

Unopened freeze-dried food has a shelf life of two years, keeping in mind not to exceed the printed expiration date. Once opened, the food is fresh for up to 30 days as long as it’s resealed between feedings.
